Hey everyone! I'm completing an application for a government contract & will need to hire for the lead positions to start. This is for an interpretive film for the George Washington Birthplace National Monument. You do NOT need to be based in the East Coast. Project will be funded from July 2025-June 2026. Director: Manages the film’s creative vision throughout the Development, Pre-Production, Production, and Post-Production Phases of the project.
Experience successfully creating content similar to what is required by this scope of work. Must have completed at least three different projects no shorter than 10 minutes.
Experiences with: Interpretive (focused on connecting the audience to the subject, telling a story they can relate to or be awed by, as opposed to a focus on being educational or informative). Cultural History in subject (focusing on human beings and structures rather than natural & scenic settings). Filming in sensitive natural and cultural settings (including use of specialized equipment in culturally sensitive areas). High production value (demonstrated by use of cameras and specialized gear for dynamic fluid movement meeting the technical specifications in the Scope of Work, refer to Section III.C.2, Principal Photography). Narrative that weaves together multiple voices. Ability to conduct oral history interviews. Engagement and consultation with various stakeholders. Rich and accurate use of sound design, including on and off-screen sound effects of the natural environment and subjects. SDH and Audio Description. Emphasis on visual storytelling that ‘shows’ more than it ‘tells’.
